Lesson 6: Testing and Launch
The final two phases in our process are Testing and Launch.
In testing, we do as much as we can to make sure the site is functioning without any hitches. So, that means we test each page on different screen sizes and web browsers. BUT, we also test anything and everything a user should or shouldn’t be able to do like buying a product or sending an email through the contact form.
We also create a pre-launch game plan. Before we launch the site we’ve got to think about things like which pages are changing URLs and when the client’s site has the most traffic. If you’re not careful, you could hurt the client’s SEO or migrate during a time when the client makes the most sales on their products. That’s never a good idea.
After that, it’s time to launch! At this point, most of the work should be done. You just need to make sure everything is functioning the way it should on the live site. The final thing we do is go over a post-launch game plan with the client. This is where you talk to the client about how they’re going to maintain their site AND potentially get them to contract you monthly to take care of it.
All that and more is covered in this video.
