I am so excited to announce that on March 3rd, 2020 I will officially be launching a podcast to go along with selfmadewebdesigner.com!
Let me tell ya, I’m excited about this.
For months I’ve been quietly working in the background interviewing people that I have looked up to for years. People like:
- Laurence Bradford of Learn to Code with Me
- Davey Jones of Till Agency
- Lee Blue of Double Stack
And, I finally get to share what I have learned from them with you!
What Self-Made Has Done So Far
I started Self-Made Web Designer with the intent of helping people with busy lives learn how to break out of whatever financial situation they were in and start earning money as freelance web designers and have more freedom in their careers.
Up until this point I’ve done that in 3 ways:
In this free 4 video course, I outline the exact same process I took to get to where I am today as a web designer.
I don’t know about you but I get overwhelmed with all of the options out there to learn web development and design. So, I broke everything down and pointed to the places I’ve found to be the most helpful
Nearly every week I talk to people from all over the country and sometimes across the globe looking for ways to get better as freelancers or step into the world of web design.
I love the people I’ve been able to interact with and love being able to offer some tips from my experience as a web designer.
In just 6 months I’ve written close to 60 articles on Self-Made Web Designer. That’s an average of 2 blog posts per week.
It may not seem like much to you, but for a guy that hasn’t done much more than write emails for the past 10 years, it’s a lot!
I’m More of a Listener
Around the beginning of the year, I realized something.
When I was a single dad trying to learn web design, I could rarely sit down and read something for longer than a few minutes.
I was to busy wrangling kids to their beds or washing dishes.
When I was consuming content I was listening to something on my phone either by way of podcast or audiobook.
So, it became clear, if I was going to help people who’s downtime was the equivalent of the car ride from dropping their kids off at school to pulling up to work, I was going to have to start a podcast.
So, like most other things I do, I made a game plan over a weekend and went for it on Monday.
So, What Now
Today, I have 8 episodes ready to go!
I’ll launch with 5 episodes. 3 will be interviews with people I look up to in the field and 2 will be tips and insight from me.
Then, I’ll roll out 1 episode per week.
Here’s the cool thing: it won’t just have experts. It will have people who are just getting started sharing their stories.
More than anything I want to inspire you to go for it. I love hearing from people that have read a blog post or gotten an email from me and it’s encouraged them to keep going or get started altogether.
That’s why I do this. That’s what keeps me going.
I’d love to have you subscribe to the podcast as soon as it’s available which will be as soon as it gets approved through Apple, Stitcher, Spotify, Google and any other podcasting platform you can think of.
Until then I’m here to help in any way you need. So, don’t hesitate to reach out or send me an email.
I’m excited for you all to hear these episodes. I know I’ve learned from them and I know you will too!
